Henry Scott

Head Gardener & Designer

Henry’s passion for plants began at a young age, when he spent his childhood working at his father’s nursery and garden centre. This early exposure sparked a lifelong love for horticulture.

After studying horticulture and earning RHS qualifications from the prestigious Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, Henry honed his expertise by working under the mentorship of multi-award-winning garden designers Neil Sutcliffe and Toby Pritchard.

Before founding Agave Garden Design in 2025, Henry served as the Lead Gardener at Goldney House in Clifton, Bristol, where he managed a diverse and historically significant garden.

Outside of his work, Henry enjoys reading, hiking, and cold-water swimming — activities that keep him grounded and inspired by nature.

Lorna Hatch

Gardener & Designer

Lorna holds a PhD in Public Health, with a deep understanding of the profound benefits that gardens, green spaces, and natural environments bring to our wellbeing.

A true lover of nature, Lorna finds her happiest moments surrounded by trees in the forest. This connection to the outdoors informs her naturalistic approach to planting design, while her adventurous spirit also leads her to experiment with unique and unusual species, adding a distinct "wow" factor to her schemes.

Alongside her horticultural training, Lorna is currently pursuing her passion for flower growing and arrangement. As she puts it, “A flower arrangement is like a miniature garden, where the same principles of texture, colour, and layering come to life on a smaller scale. Flowers bring me immense joy, and it’s a true privilege to share that sense of beauty and wonder with others.”

What does Agave Mean?

The name Agave comes from a genus of striking, drought-tolerant succulents native to the Americas. Known for their architectural beauty and resilience, agaves embody the sustainable solutions we champion in garden design.

As our climate evolves, it’s essential to consider plants that thrive in changing conditions. Agaves, with their geometric form and minimal water needs, are the perfect symbol of the future of gardening — combining aesthetics, sustainability, and adaptability.

Their bold structure also makes them a standout in design, offering a unique, sculptural quality that works seamlessly in modern landscapes.
